With the aim of revitalizing the San Tomaso district in Bergamo, the futuristically designed sports hall offers attractive opportunities for sports and community engagement over an area of 1,600 square meters. After just over a year of construction, it was ceremonially inaugurated on November 23, 2024. The impressive structure consists of two functional areas: the main hall with its curved entrance and the annex for changing rooms and various service offerings.
The modern construction is a real eye-catcher due to its size and elegant, curved shape, while still harmoniously blending into the natural surroundings. The arch-like glass façade ensures a light-filled interior, which, combined with the wooden structure, creates a pleasantly vibrant atmosphere that encourages sports activities. Thus, the building fulfills the city administration’s desire for a place that opens up a sporting future for young people and supports their personal development.
We were responsible for the prefabrication and delivery of the entire wooden structure. This included, among other things, the glued laminated beams as well as the cross-laminated wall and roof elements for the hall, as well as for the changing rooms and the stands. In total, we processed 300 m³ of glue-laminated timber and 90 m² of cross-laminated timber.
