The new building presents itself as a compact, three-storey building with a central area and two side wings with inner courtyards. Four light-flooded staircases provide access to the upper floors, while the entire building is barrier-free. Rubner’s large, projecting façade elements, up to 10.5 metres high, provide plenty of natural daylight and an open atmosphere. We created projecting façade elements that are up to 10.5 metres high – without structural joints.
The motto “daylight instead of neon tubes” characterises the classrooms and common rooms with bright, open spaces, glass fronts with light privacy screens and floor-to-ceiling windows. The generous glazing serves both as a room divider and as a connecting element and fulfils sound insulation and fire protection requirements. A ventilation system provides fresh air and pleasant temperatures throughout the house.
A photovoltaic system on the roof with an output of around 230 kWp ensures renewable electricity generation. For the timber and glass façade, we took care of the factory prefabrication in Ober-Grafendorf, the planning of the timber and glass façade, structural calculations and transport from our Augsburg site. Ready-to-assemble components were installed on site, including aluminium accent elements around the window openings and the curtain-type, rear-ventilated Cedral façade.
