Timber Construction &
Moisture-Intensive Structures
Expertise that Endures.
Timber is a versatile material – even in areas with challenging climatic conditions. In swimming pools, ice rinks, or buildings near the sea, high humidity is a common occurrence. This is precisely where careful planning and technical understanding in timber construction come into play.
Standards-Compliant Solutions for Demanding Climates
The applicable standards classify environments into three categories – Class 1 to Class 3. Swimming pools with modern climate control systems typically fall into Class 2 or 3. For us, this means: we rely on timber whose moisture content is already optimally adjusted for its intended use – only in this way can dimensional stability be maintained over time and the risk of deformation minimised.
Systematic Prefabrication – Even for Complex Requirements
In our factory, we design and manufacture components in such a way that moisture has no chance to accumulate within the structure. It is crucial not only to have the correct wood moisture (e.g. 12–13% for Class 1) but also the appropriate lamella structure: for moist areas, a maximum lamella thickness of 40 mm is prescribed – and we implement these specifications with the utmost precision.
Perfect Interfaces – Even Between Timber and Steel
Special attention is required for transitions to other materials – such as steel connections. Here, we ensure precise coordination and component-appropriate planning to prevent any stresses from occurring, ensuring that the structure remains stable in the long term and that no water accumulates.

Swimming Stadium Taranto
Timber Meets Sea Air
An outstanding example of our expertise in handling moist environments is the new swimming stadium in Taranto, which is being constructed as part of the Mediterranean Games 2026. Located directly on the coast of Apulia, this project combines aesthetic ambitions with technically complex requirements – including a particularly saline climate and high indoor humidity.

For the roof and load-bearing structure, we are supplying curved glued laminated timber beams with a total volume of 850 m³, as well as 335 m³ of industrially produced CLT roof panels. Our construction is precisely tailored to the climatic conditions: robust, dimensionally stable, and durable.
Thanks to the high level of prefabrication in our factory, the elements were prepared to millimetre precision and transported to the construction site just in time. Our team also carries out the assembly – efficiently, accurately, and with attention to every detail.
Thus, in Taranto, not only is a modern sports centre with two Olympic pools being created, but also a flagship project for contemporary timber construction by the sea.
Our Conclusion: Timber Can Do More Than Many Think.
