Sustainability at Rubner

How we live responsibility – and think ahead

Rooted in responsibility

There are decisions that are not made for strategic reasons, but out of conviction. Sustainability is exactly that for Rubner. For a century, it has been part of our self-understanding. As a family-owned company, we do not think in terms of quick successes, but in terms of long-term benefits. What we build should last. What we plan should endure.

This mindset has accompanied us from the very beginning—and it shapes every level of our work. In our structures, processes, and corporate culture, what is important to us is reflected: fair treatment of one another, respectful interaction with nature, and a clear commitment to a future where quality and responsibility are inextricably linked.

Getting better together

Sustainability is not an abstract concept for us, but a lived reality—supported by people. Our employees are much more than just skilled workers. They are co-designers, idea generators, and forward thinkers.

We believe that sustainable action begins on a small scale: in a respectful working environment where everyone can contribute. That’s why we promote further education, enable personal responsibility, and actively invite participation in shaping our work.

At the same time, we take responsibility for the environment in which we operate. As a regionally rooted company, we engage where we live and work—through social commitment, long-term partnerships, and open ears for local needs.

When we talk about sustainability, we don’t just mean the environment. We also mean community, justice, and mutual respect.

Our quality grows in the forest

It all starts with the tree. For us, sustainability does not begin on paper, but in the forests from which we source our wood.

We rely on certified, sustainably managed forestry and specifically source our material from regional suppliers. Why? Because for us, quality begins with the origin.

From the harvesting of the wood to processing and assembly on the construction site: At Rubner, everything comes from a single source—and that is what makes the difference. Control over our entire value chain gives us the assurance that every component meets our standards.

For us, sustainability means that our buildings are not only ecologically sensible but also durable, high-quality, and responsibly produced. We do not simply want to build with wood—we want to demonstrate what wood can achieve when used thoughtfully.

Our Sustainability Report

In our Sustainability Report, we openly discuss what has been successful  – and what we still want to improve. Because those who live sustainability know: The journey never ends, but it is worthwhile every day.

Areas of our Sustainability Strategy

Thanks to our 360° expertise from the tree in the forest to the multi-story living and working space, we understand both the strengths and the limitations of wood as a building material. We take responsibility for using the raw material wood wisely. Wisely means continually optimizing the processing and application of wood to get the most out of this valuable resource—for the benefit of both people and nature.
