Things run smoothly here – for nature, too

The Rubner Group’s value chain begins in Rohrbach an der Lafnitz, Austria, where we process high-quality round timber from the densely forested Styrian Wechsel region into strength-sorted glulam timber, solid construction timber and planks. Our company is PEFC-certified. This label guarantees that we only process wood that originates from demonstrably active, climate-friendly and ecologically, economically and socially sustainable forest management.

Using efficiently designed work processes and innovative technologies, we ensure that as high a share as possible of the energy we use to run our production facility comes from sustainable resources as possible: the approximately 110°C heat for our drying plants is supplied directly by our state-of-the-art biomass heating plant, and we use the warm exhaust air from the drying ducts to pre-dry the wood stacks. The tree bark that accumulates during processing is transformed into CO2-neutral pellets. And the photovoltaic system installed on the roofs of our warehouses closes the circle and covers the electricity needs of our drying plants.

Innovative, sustainable, high-quality

More than five million square metres of single-layer and multi-layer solid wood panels are produced annually in our factories in Valdaora in South Tyrol and Strassen in East Tyrol. Our solid wood panels are among the highest quality available on the European market. They are mainly used in hall and industrial construction as well as in interior design and facades – and especially in Rubner Group products.

Our everyday work is characterised by an innovative spirit and the courage to try new things. We have designed and built state-of-the-art production facilities in our factories, which is how we can ensure our products’ consistently high quality and implement the technologies and production processes we design. The main drivers of innovation are our own employees: the pioneering wet-cutting technology we developed was awarded the South Tyrolean Innovation Award in 2011.

Since the company was founded in 1969, our driving force has been our determination to enable and promote sustainable and modern construction with our products, based on the wholesome, renewable raw material: wood. We obtain this from sustainably managed forests. Our concept naturally includes recycling offcuts and wood scraps from production, which we process into wood pellets.

Rubner Timber Engineering

Impress and inspire – with wood

Multi-storey living and working spaces, production and warehouse halls covering impressive areas, educational buildings, infrastructure buildings and buildings with special shapes – we design individual, forward-looking timber engineering projects of all sizes. We combine our knowledge of timber, which has grown over many decades, with our expertise in planning, production and installation. In doing so, we strive to push the boundaries of what is feasible and imaginable.

We set global standards in our sector. Our state-of-the-art production facilities and techniques enable a high degree of prefabrication and resource-saving processes.

Our timber comes from our own sawmills, which ensures that we always have the required quantity of wood available in the optimum quality. And our well-thought-out logistics and assembly processes ensure fast and smooth implementation. In this way, we overcome even complex challenges and develop sustainable, consistent solutions that have contributed to a medium-term doubling of the share of construction projects realised with wood in Europe – thereby making a significant contribution to environmental protection for future generations.

We also offer our high-quality timber houses as turnkey solutions. We guide you through all the steps of the project and advise and coordinate throughout the entire planning and construction phase. At the Rubner Haus Boutique, we help you select the furnishings for your new home from a wealth of options from renowned brands and designers – afterwards, all you have to do is move in.

Living and working in harmony with nature

Building and living close to nature, healthy and sustainable – based on this principle, the glue-free and metal-free solid wood elements we produce in the Val Venosta region of South Tyrol meet the highest technical and building biology requirements of modern architecture and are used in the production of custom holzius buildings.

Solid wood planks and beams are joined with multiple tongue and groove joints; the ceiling elements are connected with wooden screws and the wall elements with a wooden ridge strip. This patented construction method not only guarantees dimensional stability and permanent airtightness but also ensures that residents can enjoy the benefits of wood in its purest form: its scent, its feeling of warmth, and the peace and serenity it brings to our everyday lives.

The Cradle to Cradle™ certification confirms that all our products are designed to be ecological and recyclable. Without exception, our wood comes from PEFC-certified, sustainably managed forests in the Alpine region.  On request, we also process our customers’ own wood. holzius offers a wide range

of services, from the supply of building elements to the creation of finished building shells, entirely made of wood.

Rubner Türen

Not your average door

Entrance doors, interior and sliding doors, sound-insulating doors, fire doors, space-saving and folding doors: this wide range is manufactured by over 200 highly qualified employees at our four production sites in Chienes, Perca, on the Renon plateau, as well as in Alpago in Veneto. All our doors are made to measure according to our customer’s wishes, whether as a single piece or in quantity for larger projects.

Our doors are known for their unique design as well as their outstanding quality: made of real wood, with solid wood profiles and surfaces made of high-quality veneers, our entrance doors are expressive showpieces for flats and houses – and our interior doors are design elements that can be harmoniously integrated into the interior concept.

For decades, we have been driving innovation and progress in the sector: we have not only developed the first certified ecological climate-controlled entrance door in Italy, but also the first certified real wood entrance door featuring a fire-resistant design, as well as the first certified real wood entrance door with resistance classes RC2 and RC3. Our doors deliver what they promise in terms of fire and burglary protection, sound insulation and thermal insulation, as proven by their numerous certifications in Italy, Austria and Switzerland. We are particularly proud that, to our knowledge, we are the first Italian manufacturer of wooden doors to obtain the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for our products: this means that every customer can trace their door’s origin and ecological footprint.

Windows of reclaimed wood and heritage windows for the careful renovation of historic buildings are one of our particular specialities.

We focus on individuality and high quality. Our energy-saving, heat-insulating and burglar-resistant windows are made to measure and tailored to our client’s wishes.

The utmost care and precision in production and installation are essential for the long service life of our products – and thus decisive for our customers’ satisfaction and our claim to keep the ecological footprint of our products as small as possible.
