One year ago, South Tyrol joined the International Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatory (INSTO), which aims to promote low-impact, sustainable tourism. For this reason, the Bolzano Trade Fair Centre presented for the first time its own "Sustainability Award" at HOTEL 2019, an award for products presented at that fair that are manufactured in a particularly sustainable way.
Rubner Türen Srl received the award in the "Furniture" category for its "Rubner SMART" . This front door is made of real wood, is insulated with cork instead of industry-standard artificial foam, treated with water-based lacquers and packed with as few materials as possible during transport and storage, all of them recyclable. Rubner SMART was developed at the Percha plant in cooperation with HOPPE for barrier-free living. It opens and closes automatically via a motion sensor and is therefore particularly suitable for nursing, people with restricted mobility and elderly citizens. You can find a short clip on how it works HERE. (german subtitles)
The submitted projects were evaluated by a jury of experts from the Center for Advanced Studies at Eurac Research. Its five members evaluated the detailed questionnaires, in which aspects of sustainable management of the individual companies, such as mobility, careful use of resources and waste management, regional orientation and social components were asked.
We are delighted about the award and take it as confirmation of our efforts to protect our environment - and as an incentive for further efforts!
