A Place of the Future:
The School Complex in San Fermo

In the heart of San Fermo, Varese, a visionary school complex is taking shape, commissioned by the city of Varese. This complex not only sets new standards for modern education but also serves as a vibrant hub for the entire community.

The new building will replace the former Don Rimoldi school and will house a primary school, a secondary school, as well as a versatile multipurpose hall and sports facility.

The architectural concept invites openness and communication. A spacious, glazed passage – the “Ring” – connects the different parts of the building and allows for a seamless transition between areas.

The central courtyard becomes the lively heart of the complex, where members of the school community and local residents can meet and interact.

With 550 m³ of glued laminated timber and 450 m³ of CLT, this project relies on a natural resource that is not only visually appealing but also practical in its application. Thanks to high prefabrication and the rapid assembly of wooden construction elements, progress on the construction site can be achieved at an impressive pace without compromising quality.

Starting from the 2026 school year, students will discover, explore, and develop in modern, thoughtfully designed spaces.

The Cornerstone for the Future Has Been Laid

The Construction Phase Has Begun

In San Fermo, Varese, the new school complex is taking more shape. The first steps have been taken: massive glued laminated timber beams, some up to 18 meters long, have been successfully installed. The wooden beams for the floor structure have been laid and now form the foundation for the upcoming construction phases. With the completion of the first floor, the cornerstone for the future learning spaces has been laid, which will soon excite students and the local community.
