The four star hotel located very close to the “Valerio Catullo” Verona airport chooses the expertise of Rubner Objektbau for a wooden extension of its facilities
Fast “turn key” solutions, professionalism and the possibility to carry on regular hotel activities without any interruption: these were the needs of the Catullo Srl Service Center which commissioned to Rubner Objektbau the extension of the DB Hotel Verona Airport & Congress, which is the closest hotel to Verona airport.
The hotel enjoys a strategic and functional location and is a reference venue in the area for those who want a place where they can work, meet or simply relax in an extremely comfortable and high quality context. In fact, the nearby airport is a reference point for Northeast Italy at a European crossroads that has been hosting international clients for more than 40 years.
The General Contractor of the Rubner Group was entrusted with the construction of the volumetric extension of the 4 star hotel on July 31, 2015. The construction entails building three floors with 40 new and comfortable rooms for a total volume of 3,500 m³.
The wooden structure was completed within 21 days from the date of assignment, while the complete “turn key” project will be delivered in February 2016.
Thanks to the high level of prefabrication guaranteed by Rubner Objektbau, the wooden extension works offer the advantage of significantly reducing construction time compared with traditional building methods.
“Opting for wooden extensions is convenient from all viewpoints, including first and foremost the possibility to continue with regular
hotel activities, without jeopardizing the quality of the service offered to clients”, comments Dottor Marcello Dalla Bernadina, owner of the hotel. “With Rubner Objektbau, construction works are progressing rapidly and safely, with no noise issues. This is a very sensitive aspect for us. A wooden construction of this kind permits to achieve maximum results with minimum inconvenience and extraordinarily quickly” - concludes Mr Dalla Bernadina.
Building in wood is in fact the best system to extend volumes and add floors. There are multiple advantages such as the light weight of wood as a raw material, which permits to reduce by up to 40% the load of the structure compared with traditional systems and this guarantees more stability and excellent earthquake resistance.
Furthermore, wooden architecture is highly compatible with other construction materials and for this reason it is particularly suited for perfectly integrating with external finishes and the underlying building, conveying a harmonious and uniform final result.
The project is by Studio Boccuni, Verona.
